About who we are as a brand:

We’re Soph and Matt, and this all started with a simple goal, to help netballers train in high performance environments. We saw too many players working their hearts out but not getting the support, structure, or feedback they needed to actually level up. Strength programs weren’t built for netball, team trainings were too generic, and no one was bridging the gap between club and elite.

So we built something different. A place where athletes can train like pros, learn the ‘why’ behind their training, and actually see progress week to week. Whether it’s building strength in the gym, confidence on the court, or both. Everything we do is about helping players close that gap and reach the next level.

We’re not just here to coach we’re here to build a pathway for every athlete who’s ready to go all in.

A little bit about our Head Coach:

I’m Sophia Dobson, Head Coach at The Netball Lab and a high-performance netball athlete with extensive experience in elite development pathways.

I have competed in the Hart Sapphire Series since 2021, following three seasons representing the Carina Leagues Club Tigers at Sapphire level. I am a highly team-driven athlete who prides herself on professionalism, consistency, and continual improvement. My strengths lie in reading the play, hunting for ball, and using my long reach to create defensive impact and momentum changes on court.

In 2022, I was identified within the Australian Netball High Performance Pathway, providing opportunities to train and compete alongside Suncorp Super Netball environments. Since then, I have represented Queensland at both Under 17 and Under 19 level, and in 2024 I competed with the Sunshine Coast Lightning in the Suncorp Super Netball Reserves competition.

In 2026, I have chosen to step away from elite competition to invest fully in athlete development and give back to the performance pathway that shaped me. Through The Netball Lab, I am committed to developing disciplined, confident, and technically sound athletes, equipping them with the mindset, standards, and belief required to perform at the highest level.

A little bit about our Strength and Conditioning Coach:

Im Matthew von Euw, the Strength and Conditioning coach here at The Netball Lab. My role is to strive and push athletes to be the best they can be, to hit their goals and targets and get them in the best shape they can be to achieve their dreams!

I work with all the strength and endurance, I help athletes build their overall core strength fostering them to be better athletes on court and stronger to help prevent injuries. I also strive to make athletes as fit as they can be, pushing them but also monitoring with their work load.

With my background of being a competitive swimmer for 15+ years, I understand how the body works and the limit we can push it to. I have a background of discipline, progression and passion and I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge around how to move your body in order to achieve the most with the children!

I am currently studying Clinical Physiology at university so I understand drills and how the body should train in different areas. I will use my knowledge to help the athletes become better players on and off court.

A little bit about my history with swimming, I have competed at national level since the age of 15, PBing and improving as the years went on. I have loved the social and discipline side of it, it has helped shape the person I am today and I wouldn't change it for the world. Representing Queensland in School sport has defiantly been a highlight in my career and swimming at Age Nationals with my mates!

I look forward to working with you and shaping the athletes coming through the program!
